Call for Proposals

The Call for Proposals for the Fall Conference is now open.  Lectures, hands-on sessions, and panel discussions are welcome.  Sessions are 75 minutes long.  Submit a Session Proposal

Early Bird registration is available through October 23, 2024.

  • Registration includes conference program and five meals (Tuesday dinner, Wednesday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Thursday breakfast). 
  • Commuter registration is available for those who live in the area.  Commuter registration includes conference program and five meals (Tuesday dinner, Wednesday breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and Thursday breakfast).  Lodging is not included.

Scholarships

Limited funds are available to provide financial support to professionals who would like to attend the conference but aren't financially able to do so. Applications will be accepted through October 14, 2024.

Lodging

A variety of lodging types are available including bunk style lodging with shared bathroom, semi-private lodging for 2-3 individuals with shared bathroom, semi-private lodging for 2-3 individuals with private bathroom, and single lodging with private bathroom.  A limited number of rooms are available for each style of lodging. Participants are encouraged to register and select their preferred lodging as soon as possible for the greatest selection.  Participants need to select their lodging type in step 4 of the online registration process. 

  • Bunk style lodging with shared bathroom $10 per person
  • Semi-private lodging for 2-3 individuals with shared bathroom $25 per person
  • Semi-private lodging for 2-3 individuals with private bathroom $50 per person
  • Single lodging with private bathroom $125 per person

 

The conference planning team is accepting proposals for dynamic and relevant breakout sessions.  Topic ideas include staffing, site and facility, guest services, innovative program ideas, fundraising, volunteer recruitment and management, year-round programming, mental health and wellbeing, and board development to name a few however, all topics are welcome.  Speakers receive a discount on their event registration.  The deadline to submit is October 4, 2024.

Opening Keynote Speaker - Laurie Browne

Laurie Browne serves camps and their communities through her work as the Senior Director of Research and Education at the American Camp Association.  In that role, Dr. Browne supports a team of researchers and grant managers who gather insights from the field and translate them into practice.  She is passionate about the transformative role evaluation can play in a camp organization and enjoys working with camp professionals as they work develop a culture of continuous improvement at their camp.  Prior to joining ACA, Dr. Browne was on faculty at California State University, Chico and prior to that she was a day camp director in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She earned her doctorate in parks, recreation, and tourism from the University of Utah.

 

Closing Keynote Speaker-Briana Mitchell

Briana is the Founding President of S’more Summer, a Change Summer initiative, where she partners with camps to create more summer experiences that center joy, equity, and belonging. She is also the President of Strategy and Operations for Change Summer, which creates high-quality, transformative summer opportunities for students from under-resourced communities. Briana serves as an active member of the Board of Trustees of the American Camp Association of New York and New Jersey as well as the co-chair of the affiliate’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) Committee. A self-proclaimed master of the bucket brigade, Briana spent her formative summers at a sleepaway camp in Pennsburg, PA. She continued her camp career as a counselor and activities director at an all-girls camp in Honesdale, PA before serving as the Director of AF Camp.

Participants who select bunk style lodging need to provide bedding and towels.  Bedding and towels are provided for all other lodging types.
