Foster Growth and Resilience in Yourself and Your Campers

Character Academy

In this recorded webinar, Dr. Angus Fletcher, professor of Story Science at Ohio State, introduces three science-backed exercises to help you harness the power of wonder for building resilience and purpose. You'll learn practical strategies to strengthen emotional resilience and inspire growth, both in yourself and your campers.

Praise from experts such as Brené Brown and Malcolm Gladwell highlights Dr. Fletcher’s effective, easy-to-follow approach. Watch at your own pace and revisit the exercises whenever you need. Perfect for camp leaders, educators, and mentors, this recorded webinar offers valuable tools to create a lasting impact in your campers' lives.

Exercises from Dr. Fletcher’s Keynote

  1. Embrace Your Positive Moments
Reflect on a moment in your life where you were positively surprised by your own actions. Revisit every detail of the experience and focus on just how remarkable it was. Let yourself dwell in the wonder of it, deepening the feeling of awe and reflection.

  2. Gratitude for the Little Things
Dig deeper into your memories and identify a moment where you felt immense gratitude for something small. Recall every detail of that experience and focus on the profound impact it had. Allow yourself to fully immerse in the gratitude, intensifying the feeling as you reflect.

  3. Celebrating Others’ Strengths
Think of someone you know well and pick a positive trait (e.g., kind, smart). Recall a specific moment when that person displayed this trait in action. Now, imagine how they would navigate your life today, bringing their strengths into your current reality.
