and Encourage Mentoring Among Youth

-- The You CAN Do the Rubik's
Cube! Program helps
8-to-18 year-olds unlock the secret of
solving the world famous 3x3 Rubik's Cube
and experience all the benefits of achieving
this unique accomplishment!
Since the Rubik's Cube's international
launch in 1980, the Rubik's Cube has continued
to fascinate, bewilder and challenge millions
of people worldwide. While many attempted
to solve the Rubik's Cube, few succeeded.
Those fortunate enough to solve the Rubik's
Cube experienced tremendous benefits including
an increase in self-esteem, confidence,
and a great sense of pride.
"We truly believe in the power of the Cube," says Scott Mercer,
Campaign Director. "When a child thinks they can't solve the Rubik's
Cube and then, after a bit of hard work, focus and determination, they solve
it, there is a noticeable shift in their thinking and their approach to other
challenges."
With that in mind, the You
CAN Do the Rubik's
Cube! Program was developed to provide
teachers, youth leaders, camps and other
youth program advocates throughout the
U.S. with the tools necessary to actively
engage and challenge young people and help
them develop patience, focus, and higher
self-esteem.
"Our program is meant to stimulate confidence, pride, and a great sense
of accomplishment in today's youth, while encouraging mentoring, teamwork,
and perseverance as they learn, that yes, they too can do the cube!" added
Vice President, Holly Riehl. In the words of Bryan, a 14 year-old teen member
who attends the Boys & Girls, Yawkey Club in Boston, "At first I
thought it was impossible but after working on it for a couple of days I completed
it and I felt smart."
