Designed for seasoned program staff in camps, afterschool, summer enrichment programs, or other community-based youth settings, this certificate provides an opportunity to build on your existing experience while gaining new skills. Through real-world activities and lessons, you'll apply the ACA’s Core Competencies to your past work and refine your abilities as an experienced program leader. This 15-hour online course is designed to enhance your skills, earning you a certificate of completion and 15 Continuing Education Credits (CECs). Built around ACA's 13 Core Competencies, the course is ideal for those with prior experience in youth programs and can be taken after completing the Entry-Level Program Staff Certificate.
The final component of the course lets you explore a specific area of interest, whether it’s working with a particular clientele (e.g., youth with special needs), a specialized setting (e.g., wilderness trips), or an activity (e.g., ropes courses). You’ll design your own learning experiences, such as attending training, participating in conferences, or completing additional readings, to deepen your expertise in your chosen area.
At the end of the course, learners will have completed learning experiences that builds on their past experience in working with youth as well as augment their personal skills/knowledge sets, improve their abilities to offer quality experiences to the youth they serve, and enhance their own professional development.
