Summer Resident Camp

Job Title: Assistant Camp Director

Employment Dates: January 2010 – August 2010

Reports to: Camp Director

Purpose Statement: Provide comprehensive management for the total experience of the campers and staff.

Principal Duties:

  • Provide regular inspection of units, cabins/tents, waterfront, kitchen and other areas to ensure safety guidelines are met at all times
  • Meet with Camp Director daily
  • Communicate directly with staff regarding campers with any administration, health or safety concerns.
  • Attend staff training and meetings, as directed
  • Support the philosophy, goals and objectives of Girl Scouting and GSSEF
  • Ability to administrate the operation of Camp in the Director’s absence
  • Ability to cope and act wisely in an emergency or crisis
  • Experience in program planning in the camp setting
  • Ability to be flexible and help with a plan ‘B’ if needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 25 years of age/males and females are welcome to apply
  • Currently licensed driver in the State of Florida
  • Experience in originating, updating, and/or monitoring campers and staff
  • Experience in record keeping, program ming and camping

Essential Requirements:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability to give and receive information clearly by telephone and in person
  • Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing with children, parents, physicians, volunteers, peers, supervisors, and subordinates
  • Knowledge of basic risk management practices
  • Ability to travel to and between camp properties and ability to provide own transportation
  • Ability to lift and transport up to forty (40) lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Desire to work and live in a camp community
  • Willingness and availability to meet parents/campers at two Camp Open Houses (May 30-31)
  • Critical thinking skills and adaptability
