Become a Standards Visitor---Associate Visitor Training Scheduled

Training for new standards visitors (associate visitor training) is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24th through Wednesday, February 25th at La Foret Conference and Retreat Center just north of Colorado Springs. Participants must be ACA members and need to have taken a standards course since the standards were revised in 2007. If you are interested and have not taken the course, an online option is available. There is no cost to attend the training nor is there a cost to serving as a visitor except your time.

There are numerous benefits to becoming a standards visitor including a membership discount for individual members, the opportunity to visit other camps while they are in operation and to pick up ideas you can use in your own camp, and the chance to give back and share what you have learned through the accreditation program and your career. It is also a lot of fun! For more information on the benefits of serving as a standards visitor visit: http://www.acacamps.org/accreditation/visitor.php

Important Information Regarding Standards HR 4A (MANDATORY!)
We have recently been informed that the Web site which is REQUIRED to be checked in Standard HR-4A (National Sex Offender Public Registry) has both changed its name and Web address. The NEW name is: Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Web Site, the NEW Web address is: www.nsopw.gov.

As stated above, checking this very specific Web site is a requirement of Standard HR-4A. If you use a background screening company that says they complete a "National Background Check," please verify they check this very specific site!
