Appendix A
Constructs of Self

Constructs that are included in the Reflexive Consciousness aspects of self include:

  • Self-Esteem

  • Self-Concept

  • Self-Knowledge

  • Self-Perception

  • Global Self-Worth

  • Self-Worth

  • Self-Confidence

  • Self-Image

  • and any of these variables as they relate to specific self attributes related to any of the following: academics, sport, physical fitness, and musical ability. An example is sport self-knowledge. These constructs can be interpreted as aspects of, or a reflection of, the self.

Self-efficacy, a measure of the Executive Function aspect of the self, is included in this study because it conveys an individual's evaluation of their Executive Function. This can be thought of as self-esteem of the ability to control one's situation. Therefore, efficacy represents a Reflexive Consciousness about the Executive Function.
