Children & Nature Awareness Month – April 2008

The Children & Nature Network (C&NN) is sponsoring the first annual Children & Nature Awareness Month in April. Camps will have the opportunity to join a growing network of individuals, organizations and agencies to help spread the word about the importance of providing opportunities for all children to experience frequent, regular play and exploration in natural outdoor settings. You can see a preview of selected events and programs and submit your camp's nature-awareness event to C&NN who will post your event on the C&NN Movement Map.

National Environmental Education Week – April 13 – 19

The National Environmental Education Week (EE Week) is coordinated by the National Environmental Education Foundation in cooperation with thousands of cooperating schools, environmental education organizations, nature centers, state and federal agencies, etc. You can register your camp's nature center to participate in EE week and participate in the exciting activities planned, for example:

  • An EE Week Photo Blog and Contest where environmental educators can upload photos and share their own success stories of bringing environmental education into the classroom or camp;
  • An online Student Carbon Calculator for students/campers to track their own carbon footprints during EE Week
  • Information on how to apply for the second annual Richard C. Bartlett Environmental Education Award

If you would like to share information about EE Week with your fellow environmental educators, you can access a promotional toolkit here.
