The National Assembly is a nonprofit with members that are large human service organizations.&nbsp; An 85-year old association (National Human Services Assembly) headquartered in Washington, DC with national nonprofit members having affiliates, clubs, camps, troops, councils, chapters and offices across the U.S. </p> <p align="left">Camps are free to try some or all of these vendors. We encourage you to try them out and let the other camps know what you think through this portal.&nbsp; For starters we have included many vendors we believe will be of greatest interest to ACA camps. To benefit from these discounts a few vendors have volume commitment levels: they request you do 80% of your typical purchasing through them and not leverage their pricing with the competition.</p> <p align="left">How this site works:</p> <p align="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; * Find vendors you are already using or would like to use.</p> <p align="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; * Sign up with them.</p> <p align="left">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; * Start saving money.</p> <p align="left">To help you make decisions-about vendors, or about running your camps they have added a &quot;Web 2.0&quot; type purchasing network where you can compare notes with other purchasers, rate vendors, ask questions, and share knowledge and experiences.&nbsp; The quickest, easiest way to start saving money is to find a vendor that you are already using. Once you have, click the &quot;sign up&quot; button, follow instructions, and soon you will be paying less for that vendor's products or services often much less. Very little changes, except your costs go down.</p> <p align="left">Another way to cut overhead is to find a vendor to replace the supplier (or suppliers) that you are currently using. For example, you may be ordering office supplies online from several vendors. Consolidate your purchases with Corporate Express, OfficeMax, or LaserMonks, and you are likely to save 20 40 However, sample savings numbers are based on analyses of specific invoices provided by individual National Assembly members that reflect what they actually purchase. The items and quantities that you purchase and therefore your savings may not be the same.&nbsp; It is often the case that the smaller you are, the bigger the savings. </p> <p align="left">For example because the Red Cross spends several million dollars per year on office supplies, it was able to negotiate substantial discounts with its vendor. However, by pooling their purchases with tens of millions of dollars of National Assembly member purchases they saved about 8% more.&nbsp; On its own, an individual camp may not be able to negotiate any discounts on office supplies. Hogrefe Fresh Start Fund was established by Russell Hogrefe during his tenure as Executive Director of the American Camp Association, Illinois Section. &nbsp;&nbsp;He served in that position from 1979 until his retirement in 1996.
