CALL FOR NOMINATIONS – 2008 ELECTION
TO: Section Nominating Chairs, Section Presidents and Executives
FROM: Scott Brody, Chair, Board Development Committee
RE: 2008 Election
Time Line: Nominations due by October 1, 2007 (Not accepted after that date.)
Three Board Members-At-Large are scheduled to be elected and take office in 2008.
I begin this letter with a thank-you. Your efforts to provide nominations for the National Board of Directors sets into motion an important process. The success of this process, which will help to yield the future leadership of our association, is directly dependent upon thoughtful analysis and recommendations of key professional colleagues. The National Board of Directors you are helping us to put in place will set the stage for the leadership of ACA today and tomorrow! We are grateful for the effort that you will put into this process, and thank you for your time, attention and commitment to ACA.
The National Board is a leadership board. We are asking for the identification of nominees with vision, global perspective, commitment to the ACA governance structure, willingness to engage in active deliberation, and the ability to understand the impact of decisions on the whole of the organization. Nominations for a board position should be made because the nominee is a strategic thinker, not because the individual has tenure or has provided service to the association.
The Board Development Committee continues to address new areas of board development, including ways to more effectively generate and identify a talent pool of national leaders. We encourage you to do the same. Think out of the box and in so doing perhaps beyond your current list of names. We challenge you to look at this as an opportunity to begin building important bridges to a future that is truly just around the corner.
Attached are the following pieces of information:
- Nominee Profile
- Description of Position
- Nomination Form
- Nominee Form
- 2007 ACA Board of Directors’ Roster
There are two nomination forms that need to be completed for each person nominated: one by the individual making the nomination and the other by the individual being nominated. This information is used by the Board Development Committee as they screen and interview the nominees. THE NOMINEE MUST ALSO PROVIDE A LEADERSHIP STATEMENT THAT DESCRIBES HIS/HER COMMITMENT AND INTEREST IN SERVING ACA.
Please note: You must secure the consent of the individual(s) to place the name(s) in nomination. Candidates can expect to participate in a telephone interview prior to the Board Development Committee meeting in October.
Thank you for your cooperation and your assistance in this vital process that will give leadership to our association.
