Central Lake, MI
Established: 1904
Camp
Details
From humble beginnings when fifteen campers
and nine adults arrived at Torch Lake, MI on
August 2, 1904 to serving thousands of youth
and adults every year, YMCA Camp Hayo-Went-Ha
has grown to become a year round camping and
conference center.
Yet, the core of its being
still lies in our flagship season of being a
summer residential boys camp. YMCA Camp Hayo-Went-Ha
is the oldest YMCA Boys Camp remaining on the
same site in the world.
The camp now has spread
to encompass a mile and half of beautiful shoreline
with 600 acres of wooded hills.
The mission of
Hayo-Went-Ha from 1904 has stood the test of
time. That young men would challenge themselves,
build character, be part of a spiritual place
and become leaders.
That mission has stood the
test of time. Young men today enjoy an incredible
variety of great in-camp activities and outstanding
wilderness trips while living on the shores of
Torch Lake. But most of all, Hayo-Went-Ha for
over 100 years has enjoyed the cylical re-creation
of a community of men dedicated to a healthy
spirit, mind and body.
