MARTINSVILLE, Indiana, March 8, 2002 - The American
Camping Association (ACA) annually honors individuals
who contribute their talents to Camping Magazine,
an ACA publication. The J. Wendell and Ruth T.
Howe Golden Quill and Lens Awards offer camp professionals
an opportunity to share their writing and photography
talents with peers and to promote the camp profession.
The Golden Quill Award recognizes authors who
promote a better understanding of the camp/outdoor
education/youth development field. The Golden
Lens Award commends good photographers that depict
the camp experience in their photography.
This year's award recipients are as follows:
Golden Quill Award
- Christopher Thurber, Ph.D. for "Internal

Golden Quill Honorable Mention
- Robert LaFave, O.S.F. and Sandra Buck Loughran,
Ph.D. for "Training Camp Counselors as

Golden Lens Award
